What began as a passion for authentic Italian flavors in the heart of Palo Alto has evolved into a private gateway to the hidden wonders of Central Italy. This is the story of Vina Enoteca's homecoming.
Vina Enoteca was founded with a singular mission: to bring the unhurried grace of the Italian table to California. Our restaurant in the Stanford Barn became a sanctuary for those who appreciated handmade pasta, artisanal wines, and the warmth of true Italian hospitality.
But our hearts remained in the rolling hills of Umbria. We realized that to truly share the soul of Italy, we had to take our guests beyond the plate and into the landscape itself.
Born in Tuscany and raised in rural Italy, Rocco Scordella grew up in a world where families knew the local farmers, butchers, and producers behind every ingredient. He entered culinary school in Bologna at just 13, then carried his craft through England, Paris, and New York before bringing refined Italian hospitality to Palo Alto through Vina Enoteca.
His first memory of food is watching his grandmother make orecchiette in Puglia. That same devotion to handmade pasta, responsible sourcing, and generous tables now shapes each Vina Enoteca journey.
Because every journey we craft is bespoke, we begin with a conversation. Tell us about your ideal Italian escape.
